Job Description
The State of South Dakota is seeking motivated and enthusiastic students to join our Internship Students Program for 2024. This program offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various state government departments and agencies, contributing to meaningful projects that impact the lives of South Dakotans. As an intern, you will work alongside experienced professionals, develop your skills, and explore potential career paths in public service.
Responsibilities
- Assist in research, data collection, and analysis for ongoing projects
- Support the development and implementation of programs and initiatives
- Participate in meetings, workshops, and training sessions
- Prepare reports, presentations, and other documentation as needed
- Collaborate with team members and other departments to achieve project goals
- Perform administrative tasks and provide general office support
- Engage with the community and stakeholders as required
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
- Pursuing a degree in public administration, political science, business, economics, or a related field
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Authorization to work in the United States
Experience
- Previous internship or work experience in a professional setting is preferred but not required
- Experience with data analysis, project management, or public policy is a plus
Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
