Job Description
This physician position at the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), which provides student loan repayment reimbursement. The role focuses on mental health assessment and care within a multidisciplinary team, serving a diverse veteran population.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct mental health and psychiatric assessments for individuals with various conditions, including anxiety, trauma, mood disorders, substance use, and cognitive symptoms.
  • Provide a full range of psychodiagnostic services, including diagnostic assessment, medication evaluation, and management, especially for patients with psychiatric and comorbid conditions.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate care, referrals, and consultations.
  • Participate in team meetings and treatment planning conferences to enhance patient care.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, making appropriate management decisions based on results.
  • Provide supervision and teaching within the psychiatric residency program.
  • Perform on-call duties as needed.

  • U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens may be appointed if U.S. citizens are unavailable).
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory.
  • Completed residency training in an accredited program, leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Experience

  • Previous experience in a clinical mental health setting is desirable, with expertise in psychodiagnostic services and therapeutic interventions.
  • Experience within a multidisciplinary team setting and collaborative care environment is beneficial.

Skills

  • Clinical skills in psychodiagnostics and treatment management.
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with team members and patients.
