Job Description
The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) offers unpaid internships year-round in Washington, D.C., lasting from 12 weeks to 12 months. This internship provides hands-on experience in international development and finance, allowing students to apply their skills in real-world scenarios. Interns primarily support the Business Development Team within the Office of Structured Finance and Insurance (OSFI), gaining experience in both private and public sector initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Assist in identifying transactions that align with DFC’s policy and underwriting guidelines for debt financing and political risk insurance.
- Review financing proposals and analyze financial statements.
- Respond to client inquiries and provide timely feedback on projects.
- Conduct market and sector research for proactive business development.
- Create new marketing materials for prospective clients.
Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. citizen actively enrolled at least part-time in a graduate program from an accredited institution.
- Academic focus on business, economics, finance, international relations, development policy, or related fields.
- Strong written, research, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge in project finance, corporate finance, or specific sectors/countries is a plus but not mandatory.
Experience
- Prior experience in research, finance, or a related field is beneficial.
- Ability to independently analyze and synthesize data is preferred.
Skills
- Analytical skills: Ability to distill key insights from complex documents.
- Communication: Effective written and oral communication for client interaction.
- Research: Strong research capability, especially in international finance and development.
- Technical: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
