The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is excited to announce its Internship Program for Graduate Students in the year 2024. This program offers graduate students the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the field of transportation safety and policy. As an intern, you will work on projects that directly impact road safety initiatives and contribute to the mission of reducing traffic-related injuries and fatalities.

  1. Conduct research on traffic safety issues, including data analysis and literature reviews.
  2. Assist in the development and implementation of educational campaigns and outreach programs.
  3. Support policy analysis and legislative initiatives related to vehicle safety standards and regulations.
  4. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to address emerging challenges in transportation safety.
  5. Contribute to the creation of reports, presentations, and other communication materials.
  6. Participate in meetings, workshops, and conferences to further knowledge of traffic safety issues.

Requirements:

  1. Enrollment in a graduate program at an accredited college or university, pursuing a degree in transportation engineering, public policy, public health, or a related field.
  2. Strong academic record with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

  4. Proficiency in research methods and data analysis techniques.
  5. Familiarity with transportation safety issues and relevant regulations (preferred but not required).
